The Tontine is delighted to be a host venue for the upcoming Wild Writers Festival in January 2026.  The Wild Writers Festival is a winter celebration of nature-inspired writing featuring readings, author talks, films and panels that explore our relationship with the natural world, run by the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles.

All Wild Writer ticket holders are entitled to a 10% discount on food and beverages at The Tontine throughout the course of the festival (with display of ticket).  View our menus here.

Wild Edinburgh

Running Challenges

Sunday 1st February 1.30pm to 2.30pm  |  Adam Room, Tontine Hotel

Despite – or perhaps because of – her fear of the dark, Keri Wallace, author, runner and co-founder of Girls on Hills, recently achieved a Fastest Known Time (FKT) when she became the first woman to run the West Highland Way solo and unsupported in winter. Part of a wider project exploring attitudes to running at night, it was a feat that involved 17 hours of running in darkness.
