We had a great couple of nights at the Tontine. As always the service was excellenty with helpful staff. We had dinner there both nights and food was excellent. The breakfasts were also great with everything we could want available. I particularly enjoyed the eggs and smoked salmon.
The only minor fault was with the TV remote the batteries in it were flat, leaking and practically welded to the contacts.

Very central and historical hotel, even the standard rooms are exceptional!

Parking nearby can get very busy, but there is a car park with free parking for 3 hours.

This hotel is very dated and in great need of refurbishment. Our stay was okay despite our room looking tired and quite gloomy. The staff were friendly and attentive.
We had dinner at the hotel but sadly our meals did not meet our expectations. The breakfast, however, was much better.
This hotel has a lot of potential as it's location is perfect for a trip to Peebles. Unfortunately as it stands, it is unlikely that we will return.

Ehrwürdiges Haus, würde bei einer energetischen Sanierung komplett seinen Charme verlieren. Für Leute, die den Standard moderner Häuser erwarten eher nicht geeignet.

Had lunch there today, very disappointed. Placed our lunch order with drinks today. A bit later the waitress came back to take the order again as she had got herself mixed up. Order was taken down on a pad (paper pad) drinks were brought over by another waitress, but mine wasn't on the tray, I did get my drink eventually though. My husband had large fish and chips, fish wasn't very large, it was tasty, but batter was tasteless and chips looked liked they were from a chip shop. I had ordered soup (which was delicious) a Tuna and Spring Onion sandwich. Unfortunately there was no Spring Onion in the sandwich. We did tell the waitress this. It didn't seem overly busy and some of the waitresses weren't as confident as others, but nice all the same. Looking around the restaurant as we were waiting for lunch, the carpet had food on the floor and could have been cleared up. Overall we did not have a good experience.

The Tontine Hotel is simply outstanding. The customer service is as good as it gets where nothing is too much trouble. The food, bars and general comfort is exemplary. We return here often as we know we will be well looked after. 5 star hotel with an economical price. First class again.

Great hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. Located in the centre of Peebles, it is very handy for everything. Room was lovely and clean with a big comfy bed and great walk in shower.
Breakfast was fantastic, buffet style cereal, juices, yoghurts and toast and then a great selection of a cooked breakfast. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Perfect location, staff were nice enough but service was a bit hit and miss. Asked about Sunday roast, was told they didn't do it anymore even though it was on their website.. then after ordering, apparently they do.

I always try to stay at the Tontine when I’m back in Peebles. The hotel is friendly, amenable, and well positioned in the borders best town.

The property is older and the rooms aren’t anything fancy, but you’re paying a fraction of what Scotland’s famous 5* hotels cost today. The beds are good, the showers are decent, breakfast is great. You have a fully equipped bar and restaurant that caters to you at all times of day. It’s a good place to get some work done and it’s important to the local community. Support your local hotels or risk losing them !

Had a lovely tea/coffee break in the relaxing lounge this morning. We had a toasted teacake and a warmed fruit scone, with jam and clotted cream. It was delicious 😋 and we would return.
The local council should be ashamed as they've closed all the public toilets. Luckily with hotel was very welcoming to non residents

We had a great weekend break. The hotel is in a ideal location on the high street. The room was very good with a huge comfy bed. After a walk along the high street we enjoyed sitting in the lounge that had a nice warm fire blazing. The dinner was excellent and the stunning dinning room has a lovely ambience. Staff great.
My only comment is the Car Park. Free parking is good as the street is very busy. Problem is you need to press a call button on the wall to gain access to the hotel. I pressed 4 -5 times but no one answered. It was cold & raining so very annoying. We then had to walk up quite a steep road up to the front door. When I told the receptionist I was told that if the staff are too busy the reception is not manned. A better system is required me thinks..

What a wonderful afternoon myself, my husband Paul and our little puppy Belle had today at this very special establishment. The decor is beautiful, the food was amazing and huge portions and very reasonably priced. The very best thing about the whole experience was the staff...it genuinely felt like being hosted by family. Loved it.

A great location in the centre of Peebles.
I would have given the room 5 stars aswell, except the TV is very dated and small, everything else is excellent.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
A very nice stay.

We weren't staying in the hotel but had an evening meal there. The staff were nice, helpful and attentive without going overboard. The restraunt could use a good clean though, carpets, chandeliers etc a tad neglected. We drove an hour to get there.

This hotel offers ideal secure bike storage, with a large, well-lit area and an electrical point for charging e-bikes. The staff at reception and the restaurant were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making our stay truly memorable. The food was delicious, and we were even treated to a spectacular fireworks display during dinner. After a long cycle, the hotel’s warm atmosphere and excellent showers were a welcome relief. Highly recommended!

I stayed at the Tontine Hotel for one night at the begin of October. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of the town.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
I stayed in a single room which was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. I had a great nights sleep.
Both the evening meal and breakfast I had were excellent.
I would definitely stay again.

Great wee hotel and probably had the best towels in the whole wide world.

Bed was comfortable but maybe a tad wee but the pillows were superb. Ensuite was great and the size of the room was smashing.

We had a grand view over the hills at the back.

Staff was excellent and a couple of the strong lassies carried our bags up to the first floor room 4.

Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order.

The hotel is bang in the middle of the town and we had no trouble charging off everywhere we wanted to. Parking was at the back and I sneaked in the wee narrow lane beside the hotel as the cars do backup along the street.
