Weddings at The Tontine

At The Tontine Hotel we know that every wedding is as unique as the love you and your partner share. We also know that the dedicated planning that goes into organising a wedding can be stressful and can detract from the excitement of it all.

That’s why we work with you to support you, so when your day comes you can relax and enjoy how everything has fallen perfectly into place, together.

Every wedding is different, but each wedding at the Tontine typically includes:

  • A dedicated Wedding Co-Ordinator, who will help you plan every detail of your wedding.
  • Exclusive use of our Adam Room restaurant.*
  • Services of our resident master of ceremonies.
  • Exclusive accommodation rates for your guests.

*Minimum numbers apply, for exclusive use of our Adam Room Restaurant we ask for a minimum of 60 full paying adult guests Sunday – Thursday and 70 Friday & Saturday. **Applicable when Adam room is hired for exclusive use

Getting Married in Peebles

You can choose either a religious ceremony or a civil ceremony in Scotland. The Tontine Hotel can play host to the wedding itself if that’s your preference.  If you’d prefer another location for your wedding ceremony, we can be ready to receive you and your wedding guests for your wedding meal and wedding reception.

Peebles Church Weddings

Contact the registrar who will prepare the marriage schedule for signing.  You will need to return the signed forms to the registrar after the wedding ceremony so that he can register the marriage.  Within Peebles, you can be married in either the St Peters Episcopalian Church or the Leckie Memorial Church of Scotland.  Arrangements can also be made for weddings at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church or in Peebles Parish Church.

Civil Wedding Ceremony

Peebles registry office is located only 50m down the High street from the Tontine Hotel, in the old Quadrangle.  A remarkably quiet and peaceful location with plenty of flowers in season.  The registry office is a beautiful oak panelled room with furniture to match.  The registrar is very helpful and will ensure your special day is a success.  It is also possible to arrange a civil ceremony in the hotel itself, Neidpath Castle, the Cross Kirk or elsewhere.


At The Tontine Hotel, we don’t think your dream wedding needs an excessive budget. However, a beautiful venue and delicious food is a must. The day is about celebrating your love, with your friends and family, in style.

Wedding Meals

At The Tontine Hotel our Head Chef has designed a selection of delicious dishes from the finest, locally sourced Scottish ingredients, offering classic cuisine with a contemporary twist.  We will work with you to select your very own bespoke menu of 3 starters, 3 mains, and 3 desserts to ensure that there is something on offer for everyone.  Our meals also include tea or coffee and homemade fudge, along with personalised menus, place cards and a table plan to ensure everyone enjoys their meal.  There’s also no need to worry about guests specific dietary requirements.  Just let us know about any allergies and we will just make sure our chef knows so he can take care of everything for you.

Drinks Packages

We’re delighted to offer a range of drinks packages to make the job of choosing for everyone that little bit easier, so that all of your guests can enjoy a drink while celebrating.  Alternatively as we offer an extensive range of wines, spirits and liquors you’re welcome to get a little more creative and we can tailor your choice of tipple to suit you.

Evening Buffets

Your big day can require a lot of energy for both you and your guests, so after you’ve cut the cake, taken your first dance and everyone joins you on the dancefloor you may wish to offer evening guests a little something more to keep you going.  We offer three hot evening buffets, for everyone to enjoy after a long day celebrating.

Welcome Treats

If you’ve planned time to let your photographer go all out and take lots of photos of your special day then why not offer your guests some of our handcrafted canapes as they arrive at the hotel while they wait.

Receptions at The Tontine

We know your wedding should be as unique as you are. So whether you’re looking for an intimate celebration with your family, or something a little more lavish, we can cater to your needs.  Our Adam Dining Room can accommodate up to 80 guests for a delicious wedding breakfast, and 100 for your evening party.  With 36 rooms, we have the capacity to accommodate 70 guests, so you can celebrate properly and make a night of it.

Wedding Catering

We will work with you and help you design your own bespoke menu for your wedding meal, with a variety of starters, main courses and desserts to choose from, our Head Chef will be on hand to make your wedding day meal something to remember.  We can also offer the services of our pastry chef to have your wedding cake made for you.  If you have any questions just contact us below.

Decorations & Entertainment

We want your dream day to be as special as possible, so upon arrival we can offer you the red carpet treatment, along with a glass of sparkling wine or a beverage of your choice through our drinks packages.  At your wedding meal, we can arrange for chairs with colour co-ordinated sashes to match your wedding theme, fairy lights draped over our minstrel gallery, and help you with arranging table decorations for each table.  Each of your guests will also have personalised place cards and menus while enjoying their meal.

For entertainment, we can arrange a piper to play for you in the dining room.  We also offer an evening party for you and your guests to celebrate on the dancefloor.
