Job Summary:

We now have an opportunity for a Night Porter to join us in our busy hotel group.  In this role you will be expected to work to the highest standards, delivering an efficient and welcoming service throughout the night shift, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all of our guests.

Reporting directly to the Front of House Manager, you will be primarily responsible for the security of your designated hotel and well-being of the guests while on duty.

This is a dual site role, working either at Barony Castle Hotel in Eddleston or The Tontine Hotel in Peebles, according to business needs.

Pay & Reward:

Hours: 11pm – 7am
Contract:  Permanent, full time, 40 hours per week
Rate of Pay: £25,000 per annum

Main Responsibilities:

• Set up of any function spaces as per function sheets.
• Clearing of function spaces after use in preparation for the next day.
• Cleaning of public areas.
• Welcome guests in the evening and during the night.
• Responsible for the payment of all bills during the night shifts.
• Prepare and deliver room service requests during the night.
• Following license rules, serve alcohol to guests (as per management instruction).
• Responsible for the close of operations for the day.
• Ensure security for all guests and their property.
• Be aware of all technical installations in the hotel as well as the hotel security and alarm systems.
• Responsible for the hotel after the departure of all day managers.
• Is responsible for the General Manager or the Duty Manager in their absence.
• Be environmentally aware and dispose of waste according to hotel standards.
• Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, health and safety and food safety legislation.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other colleagues.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience in a similar security / nightporter position
• Physically fit due to the nature of this role
• Be able to work unsupervised in a busy environment
• Eligible to live and work in the UK
• Be able to converse in English

Desirable Criteria:

• First Aid Certificate
• Personal License Holder
