Dog Friendly Hotel

At The Tontine, we know that dogs are man’s best friend.  We have put together the ‘purfect’ dog friendly hotel package so you can bring your pooch along to The Tontine Hotel for a nice little holiday that’s bound to get those tails wagging!

A number of our Riverside lodge bedrooms, many of which have recently been refurbished, are dog friendly.  If requested, we will provide a cosy dog blanket, bowl for fresh water, and a doggy treat too so you can trust that, this holiday, you’ll have one pampered pooch.

Your dog isn’t confined to the bedroom at The Tontine Hotel either.  You and your dog are welcome to come and relax, eat, and drink in our hotel bar, bistro or garden.

Please contact us direct for availability of pet friendly rooms.

A £10 charge per night applies.  Maximum of 2 dogs per room.

What to do whilst here

The surrounding Peebles countryside has the most scenic walks and we will happily provide you with maps and more information so you and your furry friend can get out and explore the beautiful Tweed Valley, before retiring back to the Tontine Hotel for a well-earned local beer, wine, and bowl of water for your thirsty pooch.

there is fun to be had in every direction, with so many hills, forests and parks to explore, and new smells to investigate.  There’s good swimming too – the nearby Tweed is a favourite of many a four-legged visitor.

For the social – Hay Lodge ParkOn the banks of the River Tweed, just a stick’s throw from the Tontine, lies Peebles’ largest and most beautiful park. Grassy and social – a real meeting place. Also an ideal leg-stretcher after a long journey.

For the shorter/older dog – Tweed Valley Railway PathAn easy tarmac path that follows the river from Peebles to Innerleithen. Can be tackled in chunks, so no need to walk the whole way. Excellent swimming available along the route.

For explorers – Cademuir ForestThe smallest and perhaps least-known of the Tweed Valley’s forests, Cademuir is for those who like to get off the beaten track. With dense cover, a heady brew of interesting smells, plus plenty of sticks for throwing, it’s a real winner.

For athletes – John Buchan WayA testing trail that runs for 13 miles between Peebles and Broughton. A treat for those long of leg and large of lung. Owners must be pretty fit too.

Please remember to pick up after your dogs and keep them on leads around wildlife and livestock.
