Kitchen Porter

Job Summary:

The Tontine Hotel now has an opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen operation.  In this role you will be expected to work to the highest standards, supporting the chefs during and after service, demonstrating the flexibility to adapt to various work situations.

This position would also suit someone looking to gain a qualification in the catering industry as all employees are encouraged to progress throughout the kitchen operation.

Pay & Reward

Hours: Full time & part time, to include weekends. Flexible shifts available.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £7.50 – £11.44 per hour, depending on age and experience

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible.
  • Collecting and washing pots, pans, utensils, plates and cutlery.
  • Getting pots, pans, plates and cutlery back into use as quickly as possible.
  • Washing and disinfecting kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls.
  • Making sure kitchen equipment is properly stored.
  • Removing and recycling waste from the kitchen.
  • Unloading deliveries of food and equipment to the kitchen.
  • Organising the storeroom.
  • To participate in the efficient smooth running of the Kitchen
  • Be environmentally aware and dispose of waste according to hotel standards.
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, health and safety, and food safety legislation.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other colleagues.

Reporting Lines:

  • Reporting directly to the Head Chef / Chef in charge.
