Weddings at the Tontine Hotel

Getting Married in Peebles

You can be married in either of two ways in Scotland - by a religious ceremony or by a civil ceremony.

Wedding in a Church

Contact the registrar who will prepare the marriage schedule for signing. You will need to return the signed forms to the registrar after the wedding ceremony so that he can register the marriage. You can be married in either the St Peters Episcopalian Church or the Leckie Memorial Church of Scotland. Arrangements can also be made for weddings at St.Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.

Civil Wedding Ceremony

Contact the registrar. Peebles registry office is located only 50m down the High street in the old Quadrangle. A remarkably quiet and peaceful location with plenty of flowers in season. The registry office is a beautiful oak pannelled room with furniture to match. Kenny Howatt, the registrar is very helpful and will ensure your special day is a success.

It is possible to arrange a civil ceremony in the hotel.

Overseas nationals

If you are not a European citizen you must obtain a visa before you travel from the British Consul in your country of residence.
